OPAR's mission is to stimulate dialogue between policymakers and technologists. OPAR works with the Georgia General Assembly on science and technology issues. Specifically, OPAR organizes all hearings for the House Science and Technology committee. OPAR also works actively with stakeholders in Georgia's S&T community to develop a roadmap using S&T as an economic development strategy.
